How to Enter Light Trance at Home

How to Enter Light Trance at Home

The word “trance” can sound intimidating, often bringing to mind stage tricks or loss of control. In reality, you naturally enter trance multiple times every single day—when you become absorbed in a good book, daydream while driving on a familiar highway, or drift off to sleep.

A light trance is simply a state of focused inward attention combined with deep physical relaxation. Learning to enter this state deliberately is one of the most effective skills for emotional resetting.

Safety Guidelines Before You Begin

4 Steps to Enter Light Trance

Step 1: The Upward Eye Fixation

Sit comfortably with your spine upright. Find a small spot on the ceiling or high on the wall in front of you. Gaze upward at this point without straining. Take three slow, deep breaths. Within 60 seconds, your eyelids will naturally begin to feel heavy and blink. Gently close your eyes on an exhale.

Step 2: Progressive Physical Release

Mentally scan through your body, deliberately relaxing each muscle group:

Step 3: The Counting Down Technique

In your mind, count down slowly from 10 to 1. With each descending number, whisper to yourself: “Deeper and calmer.” Imagine riding a gentle, peaceful elevator down into your own quiet inner sanctuary.

Step 4: Resting in the Stillness

Once you feel completely relaxed, spend 5 to 10 minutes simply resting in this serene, quiet space. You may introduce positive affirmations or simply enjoy the peace.

Returning to Full Alertness

To conclude, count up from 1 to 5: “1… feeling grounded; 2… energy returning; 3… taking a deep breath; 4… wiggling fingers and toes; 5… eyes open, fully alert, refreshed, and peaceful.”

From Hardik’s practice: The greatest obstacle for beginners is trying too hard. Trance is not an achievement you force; it is an innate state of natural stillness you allow your nervous system to sink into.
